“Hey man, how did you get your job at Sixthman?”
As one of the newer team members here at Sixthman, I was caught off guard by just how many times I was asked that question when on-board any one of the first six cruises I’ve sailed on with the company this year. The answer for me is a classic tale of being in right place at the right time….about 20 years ago…
My freshman year at the University of Florida I had the good fortune to make a new friend, who turned band mate and who has now turned into my boss. Andy Levine and I had some fun leading and marketing our college band, Waterdog, throughout the Southeast in the early nineties. When the band went on permanent vacation…we always talked about finding a way to work together again one day.
Well Andy went on to managing bands and founding (what I think you agree) is a pretty amazing little company (Sixthman). I put my energy into marketing, sales and management roles in radio, television and digital in Atlanta, Tampa and D.C.
All the stars aligned last summer
With the growth the company was experiencing, the need arose to bring on Sixthman’s first Chief Marketing Officer. You can imagine my excitement (and the honor I felt) to be able to be the one lucky enough to fill that role. So six cruises and six months later, I’m fully focused on helping create experiences for our guests that set the stage for moments that hopefully become memories for a lifetime.
In addition to working on the Sixthman brand, cruise event promotions, marketing campaigns , public relations and with the Warriors who lead our cruises…I get to work as a part of a team at Sixthman (we go by the name SPARK! for sales-pr-marketing) that helps brands connect and add value to our guest communities.
If you’ve sailed with us this past year or seen some of our recent social posts, you’ve probably been introduced to one of our key brand partners, Cabo Wabo Tequila. We saw fast that both Cabo and Sixthman share a similar passion for celebrating moments that make life rock! So that’s what we’ve committed to do together. More than just a logo here and there….our goal is to push ourselves to add value to your vacation experience in all the programs we create together.
- Some of the things we’re doing and are working on to achieve that goal include creating unique on-board guest – artist activities such as Battleshots, producing engaging video content featuring Sixthman cruise event artists in Off the Record conversations, rolling out custom drink specials to provide you with some on-board savings and supporting a series of emerging artists through a Tour of select cities. Some other ideas are as simple as Cabo providing a free shot of tequila for the whole ship to toast the sail-a-way of the cruise, great photo galleries of shots from ship or giving out a few pop up tents at beach shows to provide a little shade from the sun!
