But now im here!
I was one of the 5 kick A#@ teammates that made up the token “home team” during The Elvis Cruise.
Well, at least I was for Thursday and Friday, but tomorrow they will rock our home base without me, as I flew into Cozumel to finish out the event with the rest of our team.
Why would I go through the trouble of flying into Mexico halfway through the event?
One simple answer – my mother. My mom is the first of 4 parents to attend a Sixthman cruise, and she did so with 9 of her best girlfriends – all without husbands, kids, and any care in the world.
For all of my parents to see what I do – and meet all my fellow teammates – is a huge dream of mine, so when my mom called and said ‘I’m coming – and I’m bringing the girls!’ – I was ecstatic.
About 2 weeks prior to sailing, it was decided that I would stay back in the office for first half of the cruise – and at first, I was devastated. What’s the big deal you ask? Just think about it… My mom and 9 of her friends were going to be boarding a cruise, and hanging out on a cruise, and seeing shows on a cruise, and eating on a cruise, and drinking on a cruise – without me making sure they are taken care of.
It’s not that I didn’t believe in the rest of the team, but how could anyone take care of my mom like I would??? I was very uneasy.
Looking back – I absolutely, 100% should NOT have been.
I can’t put into words how welcome my mom felt upon arrival. It impossible for me to relate how excited her group was to be onboard – surrounded by other passionate people. I won’t even try to explain how well taken care of my mom felt, and for good reason. And the coolest part of the whole thing was – she wasn’t feeling those things because she’s my mom.
The Sixthman team who kicked off The Elvis Cruise – kicked A@# themselves. Just as my mom will walk off this ship so proud to have seen what her daughter has been part of the past 5 years, so will I walk off the ship being so proud to be a part of this team. You took great care of my mom, and for that I am so grateful!
I love you, Sixthman.
