Is the information in podcasts posted anywhere else? I have not been able to hear the podcasts. For some reason I can only hear about the first 10-20 seconds of it, then it quits.

    Hey guys,

Oval Opus is the band announced for the Rock Boat, and John Hiatt is the announced 5th headliner for Cayamo 2010.

Tina sorry to hear that the podcasts are cutting out on you. Have you tried to download it to your harddrive first and then play it? Or subscribe through iTunes?

I am glad Emmylou is back on Cayamo for 2010 after a year away, and I’m even OK that Lyle will be there for a third year in a row as a headliner. But I am much more excited that you chose Steve Earl and his wife Allison Moore for 2010.

However, I must say also that having John Hyatt for a third year in a row as one of just five headliners is too much. To me Hyatt is just not a big headliner for folks interested in singer songwriter/folk music and that is what you are promoting right? I was glad to see him on the first Cayamo but I could certainly wait a few more years before I see him perform again.

Brandi Carlisle is OK also for a third repeat but ONLY because she is so into the croud and plays so often around the ship unlike any other performer or headliner will do or has done. I am sure she sells tickets for you too. For someone who hasn’t put out a new CD for several years she does maintain a great following.

I just want to say that for me, Cayamo could be more attractive to attend every year or every other year if a majority of the headliners weren’t repeated this much. I tire also of the prospect to see so many of the other performers being from the Atlanta scene and repeats for three years.

Sorry to criticise, but when I got the Cayamo email this week I was at first very glad for the new port of call in Belieze, but when I read that you had signed Hyatt again it just immediately took my excitement level down from being in a hurry to sign up for 2010. Now if you announce soon that Antje Duvekot and the Greencards are resigned for 2010 with more oportunities to perform (Antje only had a single performance and in a poor venue) and that there would be many new (to Cayamo) performers with national followings – well, that would boost my excitement level right back up.

What couple wants to spend about $3,500 to go on Cayamo every year if the musical experience is going to be soooo similar to previous years? Remember there is expensive airfare to Maimi and a night in a hotel to be added to your cruise cost. I certainly don’t look at it from the perspective of cabins starting at $799.

Folk, bluegrass or blues festivals on land don’t repeat headliners or the majority of lower teir performers for several years and that is an element of their financial success and longevity. Cayamo is not promoted as the Meyer or Skynard cruises are to be an attraction for fanatic fans of singular artists. I don’t know how long you will find passengers who want to repeat with Brandi, Lyle, and John year after year after year…or with Shawn Mullins, Edwin McCain, Darrell Scott, etc., etc.

There are lots of great performers on the national circuit of summer festivals and folk clubs. Go sign some of them up for 2010. Keep it real and keep it different.

I agree with Paul, too many same ole repeats in 2010. I’m glad to see that Emmy Lou is back but a repeat of John Hyatt is a little much. There are so many terrific people out there, why not invite some new people to headline? Also, only two port stops, bummer. That was the best part of Cayamo 2009, lots of stops at cool places I’ve never been. And coming from the West coast is expensive if you include RT airfare, hotel the night before, etc. and for 5 days and 2 stops on the cruise? I think we may have to pass this year…and I really loved the 2009 cruise and planned to go on each and every one of them from now on. Oh well. And getting a future 8% pay cut from my 30+ year job in Calif is not helping any, I must say. Well, here’s to 2011? Promise not to repeat the majority of headliners? Thanks!
