Great post! I'm a lifelong morning person. I now get up at 5am everyday, walk the dog for a half hour, and then either commute on bike 11 miles to my office, or if it's winter/wet, take the train into the office. I'm at my desk by 7am, and those first two hours of my day are the very best - I am my most productive, and get some great creative project time in before my phone starts ringing and email starts flying. And I design my day like this solely by choice. It allows me to be home by 5pm, to do the dogwalking, workout, cooking routine that I love. I feel like I have more free time than most people I know, even though I do go to bed at 9:30pm.

I'm also married to an up-all-night man. Early on, it was frustrating to me that he needed to sleep so late on the weekends. Now, we love doing our own thing early/late when the other is sleeping. Works pretty well.

When I went to college they always scheduled some pesky class at 8:00 AM, so I sort of became a morning person by force. Now I'm working at a place that gives us a choice of a 8 or 9 start time, and I choose 8 (mainly because my boss gets here at 7). On the weekends I sleep in, but hate when I over sleep. I feel like I've wasted the day.

That being said, I suck at waking up. I'm one of those 3 alarm clocks, 45 minutes of snooze button pressing, wait until the last minute to get up people. I wish I could break this habit, but I've tried it all. I've been waking up every day for 26 years, and I still haven't gotten the hang of it yet.

I used to be a total night owl. In fact, I still sort of am, aside from the fact that I have to be at work at 7am now. I've gotten better about being an early bird, but I still like to stay up late.

I'm definitely a morning person! During the week I HAVE to get up early or I will never make it to work on time. (ATLANTA TRAFFIC SUCKS!) On the weekends I like to get up early - maybe 8 or 9am. I hate to waste the day. Now that I'm a weekend warrior, (I don't work freelance anymore) I have to fit all my fun-time into 2 days. I know, I know..."welcome to the real world." At least that's what my folks say.

Overall, I really have no complaints. Life is good!

Throughout high school, I had to get up extremely early for 5am swim practices. When I got to college, quit swimming, and discovered procrastination and alcohol, I quickly became a night owl. While I absolutely LOVE sleeping in, I need to revert back to waking up early. My bosses have commented that I am definitely not a morning person -- I know I would be much more pleasant if I gave myself an hour or so in the morning to get some endorphins pumping through my system and mentally prepare myself for the day.

I'm so not a morning person. I'm very much a night owl. It's rare that I'm asleep before 2 or 3AM. Even in middle school / high school I'd stay up very late and hate getting up in the morning.

It's mostly a choice. I have a very flexible job that allows me to work whenever I want. I enjoy night quite a bit.. there aren't people around to annoy me and it's peaceful outside. Right now the toads and frogs are croaking at night and it's so great to listen to.

On top of that, I like to do Astronomy. This, of course, requires staying up late at night!

I've tried to switch to waking up earlier, but I always wind up slipping back into my old ways. That's one of the bad things about my job being so flexible. I don't *have* to get up early, so I don't! Although... people like to occasionally schedule meetings at 9am for me which means waking up early.

I love sleeping. I will do it at any time, but I prefer during the morning. The world has become so 24/7, you can do anything you want late at night. grocery shopping is my favorite.

When I was in the bar business, I went to bed at 5 or 6 am and got up around 1 or 2 pm. Perfect, if you ask me. Get off work, do some grocery shopping at the ghetto Kroger, pay bills, clean my house- the best time for all that is around 4 am.

I had insomnia the entire first year I worked for Sixthman. I made it to bed around 1, but would wake up at 3 and not be able to get back to sleep. Whenever I'm on vacation, I revert back to my old ways...

Over the last couple of years, I've been waking up earlier and earlier. I don't know if it's because my body has gotten used to waking up for work or what.
Typically I wake up around 5:30-6:00. If I sleep until 7:00 that's really sleeping in for me.

For the most part I like it. I get up and catch up on the news, etc. When I sleep later I feel like I've wasted half the day.
On the other hand, I don't sleep well in general so I'm always tired!
