I think this a great idea. I would totally love to have a giving back experience on the days at port. We are all so blessed – let’s share the love!!

This is a late “Yay!” but “Yay” for Port Service. I had read about the visit that Guster and Sixthman did at an orphanage in Mexico (Cabo/Mayercraft) and thought that was cool. I would totally volunteer to do something like that!

awesome… just wanted to add another vote in support of volunteering at the ports we visit. maybe that way I won’t sleep on the ship most of the day!

Franchise – You are so right! So many of the ports we visit rely on our tourism. We’re really excited about being able to help these communities even more. And, it is awesome to see how so many of you want to get involved

We used to do Community Relations projects like this when we’d pull into ports in the military. Quite often they involved working on sprucing up a park or playground, visiting nursing homes or hospitals, or, if there had been a hurricane or other natural disaster in the recent past, helping with some revitalization and cleanup.

I definitely would love to see music and either kids or the elderly be involved, but anything that would help out the local communities would be great- so many of the ports we stop at on the cruises are in cities and towns that rely almost 100% on the cruise ship visits to survive.

I think what motivates me anymore is volunteering that doesn’t require giving money to people. I don’t have the extra pocket change anymore. I know that sounds horrible, especially since I go on one of your cruises, but that trip every year has been my life saver.

I would much rather find something local that I can physically volunteer for once in a while instead of just always giving money and never seeing the output of that money. I do, however, think that doing a volunteer outing at the port day on the cruises is a great idea! I would sign up for that, for sure!
