As some of you know, I recently sent in an application video for the “Best Job in the World.” Become a caretaker for a private island in Queensland for 6 months. Check out everything the island has to offer. Blog, take pictures, make videos. Take home a sweet $100k for your efforts. I can do that.
I found out today that I didn’t make the cut.
After the initial disappointment, I thought about my last couple of days. I’m in the middle of the Caribbean with so much musical talent that I don’t know what to do with myself. Indigo Girls and Kathleen Edwards are playing everywhere, Darrell Scott and Aslyn are crushing every room they play, Zac Brown and the boys played until 6am the other night, and Webb Wilder is keeping everyone dancing around the pool deck. Steve and I interviewed Tift Merritt, Brandi Carlile, and Beth Wood yesterday for the Sixthman podcast, and we’ll hit up another round of artists on Wednesday. I’m staying in an absolutely ridiculous suite with 6 other Sixthman gals – private hot tub included. I get to see the pure joy on people’s faces as they turn the corner to get their photo taken with their favorite headlining artist. I feel like I’m part of a team that genuinely cares about each of our 2, 200 guests, not to mention the love and respect we have for one another.
“Best Job in the World,” huh? You’re wrong, Australia. I already have it.
