Bonepony

Bonepony

When asked to describe their music, Nashville based Bonepony has a simple catch phrase – “it makes you feel good inside.”  Traveling coast to coast, visiting cities large and small, the band has the ability to get any crowd ready to join them in their “stomp rock” and I’m sure being on a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean won’t stop them.  We’re so excited to get these guys on Cayamo.  Drummer Kenny Wright sums it up ”We’re together 52 weeks a year.” It’s a real family vibe and I think it comes through in the music.” Pausing slightly, he reflects, “It really does make you feel good inside.” We can’t wait to introduce them to the Cayamo family and create the ultimate good feeling!

Here’s a short Bonepony vid to give a little taste of what to expect next week!

Bonepony – Jubilee

Mindy Smith

Mindy Smith

Mindy is no stranger to sharing stages with our family of Cayamo artists like Patty Griffin and EmmyLou to name a few.  It has been said that it took Mindy eight years to become an overnight sensation – but her passion for music was embedded at a much younger age, having to control her urge to belt out a song while walking thru the mall.  Like many Cayamo artists, Mindy’s passion continues to lie in songwriting. When not on the road you will most likely find her in a quiet room with a guitar creating and discovering new music inside. We’re excited to see that she’s currently in the works of a new album. Make sure to check out one of Mindy’s sets onboard to get a sneak peak into what she’s been creating behind those closed doors.

Why wait though? Take a peak now!

Mindy Smith – Out Loud

Glen Phillips

GlenWe sure are lucky to have been graced by Glen’s performances on previous Sixthman events with his band Toad the Wet Sprocket as well as doing his solo sets, and we couldn’t be more honored to have him joining us this year on Cayamo.  In fact Glen might be just as excited to be onboard as we are excited having him!  He wrote up a little piece to share with everyone and get you even more anxious for next week!  From Glen:

Cayamo…I can’t wait for this cruise to happen. I’ve had wonderful experiences playing at festivals and on cruises in the past, but I am in general something of a homebody. If I’m not working it’s very hard to get me out to a concert, but I read the lineup on Cayamo and realized that I had to be on that boat, whether I was playing or paying.

When I was nineteen, I would listen to “Blood and Fire” by the Indigo Girls with the lights out and my eyes squeezed tight. When Lyle Lovett’s “Joshua Judges Ruth” came out, I listened to nothing else for months. I don’t even know where to start with Shawn Colvin. I’ll just say that if my best song is half as worthy as her least, I can die happy. And then there’s Buddy Miller, John Hiatt, Patty Griffin and Kathleen Edwards, Jim Bianco…there are enough great writers in this collection that being in close proximity to them will either be life-changingly inspiring or drive me to quit music altogether. I assume it will be the former.

I’ll get to see a lot of old friends – I’ve played with Marc Broussard, Vienna Teng, Shawn Mullins and Antje Duvekot. I’ll get to meet many friends of friends. I’ll get to thank the Greencards for the good price on the octave mandolin I bought at their yard sale a couple years ago. I’ll also be enjoying my first full week away from the kids with my wife in almost 14 years. Not that I don’t enjoy the kids. I adore them. There’s just a certain kind of quiet that we haven’t enjoyed together for more than a day or so since our 20s. I think we’ll find it blissful.

So: If you see me looking too thoughtful or concerned on the cruise, please slap me – not hard enough to leave a mark, maybe, but enough to wake me up and remind me that I should be very, very grateful to be where I am.

See you out there.

So – get ready!  Be sure you make the time to check out all three of these wonderful artists, you’ll be more than happy you did and will walk away a fan of each.  See you all next Saturday!
