100 Pounds

ScaleI have a million things in my head that I want to talk about but just one is firing the neurons to make my fingers hit the keys on my computer.  It’s a bold move, but I am looking to shake it up and try something new.  My days are all about witnessing communities grow and I am always blown away by the amazing things that happen when people linked by common interests reach out to help one another.

There is no doubt that I am very blessed with a wonderful family, great friends and the best job anyone could dream of.  However, left to my own devices, I would most likely drift along with the masses and never realize my potential to live a healthy life.  What is it going to take for me to spark the momentum going in the right direction?  I have an idea.

Nothing happens without accountability and I seem to perform better when I am on a team than on my own, so I am inviting 9 other people to join me and lets lose 10lbs each in the month of March.  That is 100lbs total, which is more than a big screen TV, a large dog or a petite person.

Why might this work for me?  It doesn’t bother me to let myself down but it would kill me to let others down.

Here’s how it will work.  Every morning, you will each email me a picture of your scale (just your toes and the weight).  Please don’t feel obligated to show more than the toes.  That way we can preserve anonymity and display real results.  I am sure there are loopholes with Photoshop and mirrors but please be honest.  We have cheater ourselves for way too long.  In addition to the picture, please send an overview of your day and what you plan to do diet and exercise wise to make the day successful.

I will assemble and distribute the daily updates to the group.  I will only share the combined weight of the group each week so people can see how we are doing.  Hopefully, this will give us all the spark we need to get somewhere we need to go.  When we reach our goal, I will donate $1 per pound lost to a charity.

We can do this.  Was it over when you woke up with a KFC bucket on your head?  Hell no, and it isn’t over now.  Who’s with me?

Let me know by the end of the day who is in by emailing me at andylevine@sixthman.net

P.S. If we get more than 10 people, we will raise our weight goal by 10lbs per person.

P.P.S. Our lawyer will probably make us all sign a release like he made the staff sign when we decided to ride razor scooters in the office.  When you email me, I will share it with you if that is the case.
