John Felty-Jupiter Coyote waiting for the shuttle to the boat.  1/8/09

“Anticipation- it’s making me wait.”  Who wrote that song?   Although this is not my first cruise, this is the first Simple Man Skynyrd experience for me and Jupiter Coyote. Growing up on southern music at the height of southern rock in the 70s, thinking about the first time I heard Lynyrd Skynyrd and the impact that it would have on me as a musician; who do I see as enter the lobby of the Marriot Hotel?  Rickey Medlocke….  This whole experience has really taken me back to that time when I knew I loved music and guitars, which I still do. I must admit slight disappointment that many of the original members of these bands that had such a profound affect on me aren’t with the bands. Understandably so after 30+ years, life happens and people change or the unfortunate happens.

So it is with open ears and an open mind that I look forward to seeing, hearing and even possibly collaborating with these musicians. My hope is also that we as a southern band will reach a new audience that has not had the opportunity to see us before.  My compliments to Sixth Man and Rodney Stammel for what appears to be a great event.  We’ll let you know when we get off the boat.

Where are we going again?

-John
